Morning Apple Pear in a Bowl

ingredients in blender

Apples and pears are in season now throw them chopped in a blender and you’ll have a quick delicious healthy breakfast in no time. If possible get organic since apples are heavily sprayed with pesticides they rank at the top. If you can’t get any go ahead and peel the skin before blending. Trader Joe's usually have apples and pears that come bunched in bags and they are reasonably priced.

If you have kids they will love this because it’s naturally sweet and has cinnamon – what kid doesn’t love sweet and cinnamon and it’s all natural not refined and contains enormous amounts of health promoting benefits. Whoo Hoo and Win Win!

Raw fruit digests in typically one hour after eating so eat this first thing in the morning before any other foods to ensure you are getting all the nutritional benefits. If eating this after a cooked meal it will sit on top and ferment causing bloat– that’s true with any fruit not eaten on it’s own. When I have this I follow it two hours later with a green smoothie or other food.

Note: if you can't get pear use two apples or one banana with apple

 Ingredients - Serves 1
1 apple – cored and chopped
1 Pear - chopped
1 tbsp wheat germ (optional)
3 deglet or medgool dates chopped (optional)
¼ cup water
sprinkle of cinnamon

Add ¼ cup water to high powered blender -  will help chop the fruit
core and cube apple and pear and add to blender along with other ingredients. Blend on high until chunky like apple sauce.

Serve in bowl and serve as is

Additional ptions to add during blending
1 tbsp hemp seeds
1 tbsp chia seeds or flax ground  - chia contains calcium and flax protein and omega 3 fatty acid
