Oat Groats Super Breakfast in a Cup

Oat Groats Super Breakfast in a Cup
I’m oats crazy, in cookies, for breakfast cold or hot anytime year around so today I’m sharing oat groats, which are whole oats, the grain before the flaky oat, it’s totally delicious and wonderfully healthy when eaten uncooked. It does require soaking if eaten raw at least 24 hours – not a big deal - when you wake up soak them in a bowl of spring or filtered water by next morning you’ll have a soft grain which makes it more digestible. Soaking also releases it’s nutrients such as the the fiber and protein content. The cacao I used is raw and sun dried making it a healthy super food. The chocolate is not sweet and very light in color but adding agave or other natural sweetener softens the taste and makes it more appealing.  Layer this with hemp and chia seeds  and breakfast is a power house! The oat groats have a chewy texture - makes it kinda fun to eat.

Serves 2
1 cup oat groats soaked 24 hours then rinsed.
1 avocado mashed
2 tbsp raw cacao - optional - carob would be good too
2 tbsp agave syrup - or pure maple
1 tbsp Hemp seeds
1 tbsp Chia seeds
Raw Walnuts or whatever seed/nut you like make sure it's unsalted
Coconut unsweetened - optional

Combine the avocado and cacao, then add the agave.

Avocado, groats, banana slice, avocado, nuts, seeds, groats, more avocado, coconut
Squeeze the dates in somewhere or not.

Where to Buy: Oat groats can be found in the bulk section of health food markets and packaged
I know Bob's Red Mill carries it and many online stores
